PLAYWRIGHT & SCREENWRITER

Tom Cavanaugh is an award-winning playwright, screenwriter, and filmmaker based in New York City. An M.F.A. graduate in Playwriting from the Actors Studio Drama School, Cavanaugh is a playwright member of the prestigious Playwright/Director Workshop (PDW) at The Actors Studio in NYC and an active member of The Actors Gym.

Cavanaugh’s stage plays have earned widespread industry acclaim and national development. His works BEHOLD and ADAM & YOSHI were featured at the Utah Shakespeare Festival’s New American Playwrights Program. His full-length drama INLAND EMPRESS premiered in Los Angeles and is published by Next Stage Press, while his short play ROCKS ON THE PLAYA won the Artists & Playwrights Festival. Most recently, his play BARKLEE was selected for the Main Stage Development Program at AMT Theater Off-Broadway.

 

As an accomplished screenwriter, Cavanaugh’s drama script BEDBUGGERS won the Grand Prize for Drama Screenplay at the 2024 Fade In Awards in Hollywood and Best Screenplay at the 2026 Garden State Film Festival. His feature script for BEHOLD took Best Feature Screenplay at the Bowery Film Festival. On screen and stage, his short film SERVICE ME won Best Comedy at the LA Independent Film Channel Festival, and his innovative digital production NOW, NOW, NOW… earned a prestigious Hollywood Fringe Ovation Award.
