
BIOGRAPHY & RESUME
Tom Cavanaugh is an award-winning storyteller whose work across stage and screen is defined by sharp narrative and deep emotional resonance. An alumnus of the Actors Studio Drama School (M.F.A.), Tom has established a prolific career spanning New York and Los Angeles.
In theater, his plays Behold and Adam & Yoshi gained national acclaim through the Utah Shakespeare Festival, while Inland Empress (published by Next Stage Press) premiered in Los Angeles. Most recently, his play Barklee was selected for the Main Stage Development Program at the AMT Theater Off-Broadway.
Tom’s film career is marked by high-profile accolades, including the 2024 Fade In Awards Grand Prize for his comedy Bedbuggers and Best Feature Screenplay at the Bowery Film Festival for Behold. His directorial portfolio includes the award-winning short Service Me and the acclaimed documentary Franny’s Cookies. Notably, Tom is a 2026 FINALIST for Best Short Film or Documentary at the 17th Annual TASTE AWARDS in Beverly Hills.
An Ovation Award winner and active member of The Actors Studio Playwright/Director Workshop and The Actors Gym, Tom continues to push creative boundaries, recently attending the La Mama Master Playwrights Retreat in Umbria, Italy.
